Why do we train?
Do you have a goal weight you are trying to achieve? Did the doctor tell you that you need more exercise in your life to prevent diabetes, high cholesterol or heart disease?
Regardless of the reason, one thing is for sure, you have to enjoy the exercise you choose to do. Like anything else in life, if it is not pleasurable, you will not make the effort. You will not be consistent. You will resent this daily activity rather than look forward to it.
If you’ve tried a certain regimen, and you gave it three weeks and it’s still not for you, Move on. Try something else! There are so many options out there, try them out and find the perfect fit for you.
For many years I thought the ultimate exercise was running. I always felt less of an athlete because I could not (and did not) want to run more than 3 miles at a clip. I looked at marathon runners like they were gods. However, after a lifetime of cardio and weight training, I was confident enough to try Crossfit three years ago. CrossFit is a mixture of strength, conditioning and endurance. A new workout every day, something challenging every week, and you are competing against yourself.
I no longer work out to be skinny, I workout to be strong. I no longer work out to impress others, but to impress myself. It’s never too late to try something new and kick ass doing so!!
